In accordance with NEPTA bylaws, the Hall of Fame Award recipient is nominated by the board of directors and must meet the following criteria:

  • Member in good standing

  • Made significant contributions to the transit industry

  • Have a minimum of 20 years in the industry

  • Served in the transit industry in the northeast region

This year's recipient is Mark Gambaccini. Mark has been a long-time NEPTA member and continues to make significant contributions to the transit industry with his mild mannered personality and impeccable knowledge of the transit industry. Known as "the guy who knows everything in transit" Mark remains humble and was truly honored when told of the nomination.

Mark is a graduate of Salem State University and received his Master's Degree of Arts in Public Administration from Maxwell School, Syracuse University. He continued his education at Northeastern University in the FTA-sponsored Transportation Management Program.

Starting his career at Central NY Regional Transit Authority in Syracuse as a Senior Analyst, Contract Administration and Grants Management, he moved into sales with Neoplan USA Sales, followed by Luminator - Mark IV Industries. In 1993 Mark founded the manufacturer representative sales business, GTS Inc. (Gambaccini Transit Sales) and represents three manufacturers on the East Coast and Mid-west: AMEREX Corporation, I/O Controls and Twin Vision. Mark continues to work diligently serving the transportation industry and helping his colleagues, and he always finds more time to enjoy being at his lake house with his wife Anne, children Lauren, Jay, Matthew and Christina.

Mark and GTS Inc. provide support of the scholarship program through sponsorship opportunities and can be seen as a displaying vendor at the NEPTA Biennial Expos.

From your friends and colleagues - Congratulations Mark!
