2019 ANNUAL MEETING AWARDS

Congratulations
Vicki L. Shotland
Richard H. Doyle Award Recipient
2019
2019 Annual Meeting - V. Shotland and D.

Vicki was nominated by this year's NEPTA Board of Director members and voted unanimously as this year's Richard H. Doyle Award recipient. Dick has been a long time friend of Vicki's and it was an honor to have him graciously accept the invitation to present this prestigious award in person. Vicki was deeply touched to see Dick and was so appreciative to accept the award during the annual meeting.

Vicki has served on the NEPTA board in several capacities since 2004,serving as President in 2010 through 2013, and continues to serve as a board member today. She is passionate about the organization and goes above and beyond to ensure each event has vital speakers and presenters who will provide the best knowledge for the transit professionals in attendance.

Serving as the Greater Hartford Transit District's Executive Director for 14 years, Vicki continues to search for the next project to improve transportation. The District is the proud owner of Hartford's historic Union Station, which today is 100% occupied thanks to the efforts of Vicki and her team at GHTD. In addition, Vicki initiated the development of a new state of the art ADA Paratransit Operations and Maintenance Facility, which opened in East Hartford a little over 2 years ago.

There have been so many projects completed over the years, it is hard to tell which she is most proud of, but seeking as many business opportunities and being the fiscal agent and recipient of federal funds to assist others has always been her ultimate goal. Vicki has stated over and over to her team, "As long as we are aggressive and continue to complete that which we start, others will have faith in what we can do. Never losing your credibility with those that you come in contact with is the bottom line."  Passionate about her staff, she continues to provide autonomy and support to allow for their growth and innovation.

Prior to joining the District, Vicki served as Assistant General Manager of Transit Services for CT Transit; Director of Operations at Pioneer Valley Transit Authority; and spent many years prior in senior management with DHL Airways at JFK International Airport in New York.

As Vicki stated during her acceptance, the greatest treasure is her family. Her husband Terry, son Brian and daughter Emily.

From your friends and colleagues - Congratulations Vicki
